Here is my final presentation video!

May 24, 2016 |
I was almost finished with my presentation video last week, but I finished it this week. I did change one of the tools a bit that I hadn't really worked on because I had focused on one specific tool. So I was able to add that to my presentation video. I mainly focused on the one tool because I wanted one good one versus three or four bad ones. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to add as much detail as I did.

Instead of the slideshow I started making a little while ago, I am just making a video to present my ILE. We had the choice between either presenting with a slideshow in front of the class or just having a video. So I almost done with that, which I made using iMovie. I am not able to make an animated clip of one of the tools, but I am including a lot of photos of it.

I finished this tool, but I think I am going to make a little animation clip that demonstrates it for when I present my ILE. From now on I will work on getting the tools presentable. If I have the time, I will finish the other tool that I had started, but didn't get around to because I wanted to focus on this one.

I worked on changing the material of the one hand grip today. I tried adding a padding like material at the bottom of it where your palm would be. However, I have to do it a different way than what I was trying so I will have to restart that part. I did change the material of the other parts of the device though. So it now has some more design to it, but I am going to continue adding finer details.

Today we are presenting our ILE videos, which explains what our ILE is and what we have done so far, to Mr. Tobin. I made a short 80 second video on iMovie. I am also continuing to edit what I have made so far in Autodesk Inventor.

I did some more research today for other things that I could design. There was one that I found, but it would be a bit difficult to design on Inventor, which means that it is a good choice to try.

I looked into some more ideas for therapeutic devices and I came across something that I think will be challenging, but fun to make. I want to recreate a hand strengthening device on Inventor.

We found out today that we have to make a video for our ILE. So I started researching some free and easy to use video editing software. I am going to check out PowerDirector, which is an android app, and Cameo, which is in the apple store, for video editing and video collages. However, I will probably end up using iMovie.

I decided that my ILE this semester will be to create therapeutic devices using Autodesk Inventor Professional. I am going to research multiple types of devices that can be used in physical therapy. I will then find some that I can recreate on Autodesk. I hope that I can even have them tested at the end by my sister who does physical therapy. Click here for my S.M.A.R.T. Planning Sheet

I know that I do not want to do an app for my second semester ILE, but I still have not narrowed it down yet. I have had ideas, but nothing that will fill out the smart planning sheet enough. I really want to use an AutoCAD program, but I don't know what I would make and I don't know the specifics. I was thinking that I could create something on Autodesk Inventor that would help people with disabilities, such as some kind of therapy tool.

I have decided not to continue my ILE from the last semester and so I have been thinking of new projects I could do this semester. I thought I could do something with AutoCAD or that I could build an app. I also thought about doing something with guitars, since I have been playing for seven years, but I don't know how to incorporate technology into that yet.
