My ILE is now complete!
|
January 12, 2016 |
I have now completed all of the interviews. I was only able to get two campers to answer some questions, but it fills up the time very well. I also finished the editing for all of it so I am just doing some finishing touches and preparing for the presentation. I used a combination of Powtoon and another video editing program to combine the animated slides with the interviews.

It has been awhile since I worked on my ILE in class because I have had a lot of other projects in this class to work on. Today I made a video consent form that the interviewees will have to sign. I will film the interviews over winter break and finish all of the editing over winter break as well.

We had put off the ILE presentation until this Thursday and Friday. So I spent some time today making sure that my PowerPoint is all ready to go. I only had to add one more slide and fix up some of the other slides.

It took awhile for the computers to turn on today so I was not able to get much done. However, I completely finished the editing of the documentary part of the video. So I am half way through the video and half way through the semester. I should be able to get everything done on time without having to rush at last minute.

I brought my laptop in to class today so that I can work on the video for my ILE. I mainly finished up the editing of the documentary part of the video. All I have left to do is video tape the interviews, which I plan on doing some of them this coming weekend. Once I have all of the footage, I just have to edit it. I may also spend these coming weeks really trying to perfect the documentary part of the film so it looks more professional.
I also had to start making a Powerpoint for the presentations on Thursday and Friday about our ILEs. I finished everything that I need in my presentation, but I am going to add in some more pictures and other visual effects.

Since the last time that I have worked on my ILE, I have talked to a few campers and I asked them if they are willing to participate in the interview. Most of them are willing to, but I have to wait and make sure that their parents say that they can. If it is okay, I will be interviewing three people between the ages of ten and seventeen. The youngest you can be to attend Okizu is six years old, but I would prefer to keep the age above ten for my interview. The kids ten and up are more likely to have a better understanding of Okizu and have had more experiences at camp than a six or seven year old.

Today, I made my planning sheet and interview questions more specific. I listed out what exactly I will be doing to help it be more attainable. I tried making my questions so that they didn't lead them to say nice comments about Okizu. I want it to be strictly how they feel about Okizu without my opinion getting in the way.

I had already filled out my planning sheet for my ILE, but Mr. Tobin asked us to share it to him over Google Docs. So, I spent today writing up my planning sheet. I also continued writing my questions and fixing some that I had already written. I am now ready to start the documentary part of the video and then I will get ready for the interview part of the video.

Being a former camper and staff member, I already have enough information about what Okizu is. However, I still did some research for the video. I am also trying to see who would like to be interviewed. Since Okizu is located near Lake Oroville, it isn't very close to where I live. People can come from all over Northern California and certain parts of Nevada. Which means, I have to ask someone that lives near by me. I will have to ask them if it is okay with them and their parents to be interviewed. I started writing up a list of questions, which are mainly about how Okizu has affected them. In 2014, Okizu posted an outcome of how most people felt about their experience at camp. Most campers rated all of the different experiences as at least a 9/10.

I have begun my individual learning endeavor! I started making the video, which explains what Okizu is exactly. Today, I wrote out ten questions that I am going to ask some of the "sibs campers." Sibs stands for special and important brothers and sisters, but it is usually interpreted as siblings. I am going to ask a few siblings the ten questions on camera with both their permission and their parent's permission. The purpose of this video is to inform those who don't know what Okizu and persuade some unsure kids into attending.

We are supposed to spend Tuesdays working on our individual learning endeavor. So I have spent today trying to come up with ideas on what I could do. I wanted to build an application, but I wasn't sure what on yet. I have decided that I want to make a video on a summer camp, Camp Okizu, that I go to for children with cancer and their siblings. However, I am not quite sure what will be in this video yet. I will most likely decide what to put in the video sometime this week, but so far I think it will be a documentary on the siblings that go to Okizu and how Okizu helps them.
